I’m an American citizen, born and raised. I have a question regarding possible immigration to the UK, preferably Scotland. I have a great great great grandfather who immigrated to the USA from Scotland in 1865. I’ve read that certain countries allow you to claim citizenship through your ancestral backgrounds if you have a parent, grandparent or great grandparent but I was wondering if there’s any possibly way I can claim citizenship to Scotland if my ancestor immigrated over 100 years ago and is further back?
I’ve also read that you can have dual citizenship in America. Is there a way he still had his Scottish citizenship after he naturalized? (which I believe was around the 1910’s.) Also, would his kids be considered a Scottish citizen and if so, would it pass down through generations?
Thank you, anything will help.
